SUDAN FISHING PROJECT
The
recent flight to the South Sudan by refugees fleeing the religious and
political persecution in the north has put a tremendous strain on the ability
of people to find food and sustain their families. Ironically, the richest
state in fish resources in South Sudan is the Upper
Nile State which could provide an abundant supply of fish to help
alleviate their hunger, but the access to this plentiful food source is
hampered by the lack of fishing boats and nets. Many areas of the river are
not accessible by road or foot.
For this reason, Redstone Presbytery Mission Networks is joining our partners in the Sudan Presbyterian Evangelical Church (SPEC) to help fund a fishing project to help "Feed His Sheep".
The goal is to raise $10,142.00 to provide material to allow the local fishermen to construct 2 fishing boats, nets and to purchase 2 motors, as the start of a local self-help project.
Any individual or group wishing to contribute towards this goal, please write "SUDAN" on the envelope.
Please continue to pray for the people of Sudan, and for the successful completion of this project.
PROJECT WILL CONTINUE TILL FEBRUARY 19, 2012
