The children at the First Presbyterian Church of Irwin have been treated to special Lenten visitors for the past several weeks.  These visitors were witnesses to the events that took place on the very first Easter Sunday. “The Animals Celebrate Easter” program featured the appearances of Beatrice the Bunny, Malcolm the Mouse, Freddie the Frog, Crystal the Butterfly, Dwayne the Duck and Charlie the Cricket, all who were there the day of Jesus’ resurrection. Assisting the program in supporting roles for the critters were Joyce Wright and Katie Stephens. In each of their own unique story, whether it was the view from the Garden of Gethsemane, the Upper Room or on the Road to Emmaus, each animal had a spirited conversation with the children telling their version of the events that unfolded years ago.  The use of animals to tell the story held a special appeal to children while reinforcing the important details of the biblical accounts of Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection.
