Christian Education Litany
As Presbyterian Christians,
we believe all of God's children are precious and vulnerable. As we seek to
serve God by serving one another, we also strive to fulfill God's will as we
seek to accomplish the Great Ends of the Church. Let us affirm our commitment
to accomplish these Ends. Please join in our Litany.
We are called to proclaim
the gospel for the salvation of humanity
If God's stories are not told to all people, how will they know God's
promises? Without people to learn God's stories, who will be the church?
We are called to provide
shelter, nurture and spiritual fellowship for all of God's children
If we do not care for them - keep them safe and show them the ways of
spiritual life, who will? If we do not welcome young people, teach them,
encourage them, who will?
We are called to maintain
divine worship
If we do not teach all of God's children to worship God, who will?
We are called to preserve
the truth
If we do not tell all of God's children the truth, how will they ever
recognize it?
We are called to promote
social righteousness
If we do not discern justice in the church, the community, the school,
our nation, our world, how will all of God's children learn? If we do not
treat one another justly, how will we perceive the realm of God?
We are called to exhibit
the Realm of Heaven to the world
If we do not live in joyous community, rejoicing in God's presence and
inviting all to the celebration, how will all of God's children learn to
glorify God?
God has given us new life
through Jesus the Christ and stands beside us, by the Spirit, through joys and
sorrows. God is our strength and our salvation. With whom shall we stand this
day?
Today we stand together -
as teachers - as learners - and as the family of God, who gives love,
strength, wisdom and salvation. Thanks be to God.
