An official-looking softball league logo. A green baseball diamond with a white perimeter formed by the bases and baseline acts as a background for a light grey crouched ballplayer with glove resting on thigh anticipating action. Below him is black lettered SOFTBALL spelled out in tan box with black borders.

Double Elimination Playoffs
Saturday, August 6 @ PAL Field

#1

8:00 AM @ Home Calvin Presby 8
Jaybirds 7

The Jaybirds played a tight game against Calvin Presby but fell on the short side 8 to 7. They were on the favorable side of this same score in their second game against Norwin Omega; taking this one run advantage to the top of the 7th and last inning. Omega, perhaps in honor of their name, made hay at the end of the game by doubling the run production they had up to that time and finished the Jaybirds' playoff aspirations 14 to 8.

11:45 AM @ Home Norwin Omega 14
Jaybirds 8

The Jaybirds were only the first casualty of Calvin Presby who went all the way to the end only to lose to Greensburg Two in the final championship game.

Congratulations to the Greensburg Two team!

Regular Season

The Jaybirds finished 3rd in the regular season with an 11-7 record.

The Jaybirds just may have been saved by Divine Intervention! They lead 11 to 5 but Calvin Presby continued to whittle the difference down scoring run after run. A rainstorm ended the game in the top of the eighth inning and put the Jay's into two digits under the W column.

#14 Thursday, Jul 28 @ Home Makeup Armburst Wesleyan 13
Jaybirds 17

The Jaybirds overcame Armburst W. 17 to 13 in the last of their makeup games to get another W. By Jaybird's manager Bob Vaughn's calculation the next and final game (Friday, Jul 29 @ Crestas Park) of the regular season against First Free should be the game for the regular season championship. Go Jaybirds!

#18 Friday, Jul 29 @ Crestas Park First Free 19
Jaybirds 18

The Jaybirds fell short in a 19 - 18 decision with First Free in Friday's finisher for the regular season. Early on the Jaybirds took a lead but later leaked runs to their opponent to fall short and forfeit any chance for a first place finish with its perk of a first round bye.  Double elimination playoffs are scheduled to begin August 6.

The First Presby Jaybirds softball team competes in the Norwin Alliance Softball League with eight other church teams.
