Boys of the Hood

The drop down tiles are in place under the newly installed drywall.
Tile has also been cut for the drywall above the pantry cabinet.
Side trim has been added along the left side of the pantry cabinet. The wiring above the electrical panel will be enclosed. The open space below the pantry cabinet will be enclosed as well and fitted with trim .
Taping and spackling.
There will be several coatings made prior to painting.
Microwave oven in its niche.
The hood plenum is the first piece of hardware to arrive.
The hood itself is brought in.
Close up of the underside of the hood. Notice the three light sockets for illuminating the stove top. Globes in the box will fit over and protect the light bulbs. Below that is channeling to allow placement of the filters.
Top of the hood.
The hood will overlap the left glass block window (right) where the connector (below) in the back of the hood plenum will allow air intake to vents at the bottom of the plenum.
On the other side, another connector will allow the air to flow from under the hood out its top to the right glass block window.
A manual forklift is brought in for the hood installation.
The fork lift is first used to hoist the plenum into place (left). Once in place and level (lower left) it can be secured to the wall (below).
The intake connection is made to the plenum (right) getting the air from the left glass block window (below).
With the plenum secured, the hood can now be raised into place and attached.
Checking the exhaust connection (left) fit to the right glass block window (below). Because of the steam pipe that passes over the hood (above) the connector will have to be cut to be fitted into place at which time it will be welded together again.
In addition to the plenum connection, support brackets from the ceiling will secure the hood.
The exhaust connector is installed and welded back together.
