Sr. High Mission Trip
Port Jervis, NY
June 28 - July 4, 2009
Cost: $409The City of Port Jervis, nestled in a beautiful river valley surrounded by the Northern Appalachian Mountains, reflects Mainstream America not only in the mix of its residents, but also in the time-honored tradition of self-reliance and commitment to hard work. It has a rich history and a proud heritage rooted in transportation and industry. It's specifically known for its landmark railroad and canal, engineered by the city's namesake, John B. Jervis. Unfortunately, outsourcing, global competition and new technologies are forcing U.S. companies (particularly smaller manufacturers) to streamline operations, reduce costs, and ultimately, cutback jobs in order to remain competitive and stay in business. These changes have attempted to derail the spirits of Port Jervis residents and bring their quality of life to a halt. By visiting Port Jervis, you can help make the houses as beautiful as the surroundings and keep the hopes of its residents right on track!
COST: $409 with fundraising opportunities available. You can also use $100 scholarship the church provides if you don't use it towards Pine Springs. Any teen going into the 9th grade the 2009-2010 school year is eligible to go. Non-Member Sr. High Students (i.e. Friends) are allowed to sign up for the Mission Trip as well, but are responsible for paying the entire $409 since scholarships and fundraising is not available.
5 spots are still open. A $50 deposit is needed to hold your space. Please watch the church bulletin, newsletter, mailing and Sr. High Fellowship bulletin board for details on upcoming fundraisers. All Fundraised dollars up until this point will be evenly distributed between the youth; However, from here on out, all the proceeds from a fundraising event will only go to those teens participating in that event. Also, please keep an eye out for a work day, which is in the process of being scheduled for May.
There will be a mission trip informational meeting on Sunday, May 17th immediately following the 11:00 AM service. A pizza lunch will be provided. This meeting is MANDATORY for teens and their parents.
Please contact the church office (724-863-5910) if your teen is interested in attending the trip. If not filled, the spots will be released at the end of May.
