Due to legal restrictions placed on hospitals and nursing homes to guard patient confidentiality (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act or HIPAA), we recommend that you do the following:
Please inform the church office when you or your family members are hospitalized.
When registering for a hospital stay, please indicate your church affiliation and let the registrar know that you permit your name and room to be released to clergy.
SPECIAL NOTE: Please see the Patient Identification Code policy in regards to visitors (Pastors) seeing your child at Children's Hospital.If you have a family member that is in a nursing home and that nursing home resident is a church member, please inform the church office when your family member is hospitalized. Without written consent, nursing homes are not permitted to tell clergy if and where residents are hospitalized.
