Preschool General Information
DISMISSAL
Children will be dismissed only to the authorized individuals
listed on the child's emergency contact/parental consent form. Please notify
the school in writing or by phone if there are any changes. In a child custody
situation both parents are able to pick up the child, unless a court order
stating any restrictions is kept on file in the preschool office. Always keep
the school notified of changes in address, employment, and telephone numbers.
ILLNESS
Please keep your child home when
-
fever
-
unidentified rash
-
mucus from the nose
-
vomiting
-
diarrhea
is present. Anytime a child is absent with a communicable disease
-
chicken pox
-
strep throat
-
etc.
please report these illnesses
immediately to the office or teachers at the
time of diagnosis. We will inform other parents to look for the symptoms in
case their child has contracted the disease. Should any child become ill at
preschool, the child will be isolated and the parent or guardian will be
contacted immediately, so that the child may be picked up. In the event the
preschool is unable to reach the parent or guardian, it shall be authorized to
contact any of the emergency contact people listed on the emergency
contact/parental consent form to pick up the child. When your child is absent,
please notify the office or teacher. Knowing the reason for the absence can
help the teacher interact with your child appropriately.
INTERMEDIATE UNIT SCREENING
The Westmoreland Intermediate Unit will provide speech screening and
developmental testing on parental requests. If your child has been or is
currently recceiving service from the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit or any
early intervention agency, this should be communicated to the teacher, so the
preschool can insure proper scheduling for these agencies.
SCHOOL CLOSINGS
When the Norwin School District Schools are closed due to inclement
weather there will be NO SCHOOL. If there is a 1 or 2 hour delay, we will
delay 1 hour in the morning. School closing announcements may be heard on
local radio and television channels.
SHARING TOYS
Your child may bring a toy or item daily for free play. Please avoid gun,
knife, action figure, etc. toys. If your child has an item or toy relating to
the weekly unit of study you may want to encourage him/her to bring that item.
Remember to label the toy with your child's name.
SNACKS & SPECIAL TREATS
If your child is having a birthday and you would like to provide a treat
or snack for the whole class, please make arrangements with the teacher. We
would prefer no cupcakes.
