Vacation Bible School
July 21 to 25, 2008
6:00 to 8:30 PM
was all about service...
Just step outside, take a look over
your fence, and get started helping kids discover how rewarding service
can be!
In God's Big Backyard, the kids participated in the large-group excitement
of the Backyard Bash, experienced God's Word at Backyard Bible Club, met
real-life servants at Community Corner, plus explored and created through
fun-filled crafts, snacks, and games.
uick Time Review
The Sunday after was testament to the success of the previous week of
Vacation Bible School. The
2008 VBS Choir on hand at the Sunday services was confirmation. As she and
many others had provided examples of service in their devoted hard work the week
of VBS, Emily Barger using her spiritual gifts put a nice final touch on it all with her
scripture
accompaniment.
The children wore
characterizations of different animals and plants.
Below, the children line
up to toss water balloons. They announce out loud someone they will serve
and toss for the center of one of the inflated tubes. The intent was to
make a splash..but when you want to bust a water balloon it is not always
easy...
Above and top right
children wait anxiously to begin working on their crafts. Middle right is
the finished product. Lower right there is no doubt about the basket
selected by this child, its the one matching her shirt.
The group enjoys their
snacks of bottled water and lemons (above) while (left) watching an
officer demonstrate police dog work.
Above left is the cruiser
officer and canine came in. above right one of the children has an close
encounter with the police dog. Below the police dog is quite popular with
all the children waiting their chance to pet him.
Children upper left
amusing themselves while upper and left children go to their next
destination in God's Big Backyard.
There's no telling what
you might find in the backyard...
Hanging up left and below
are some of the 218 new sport socks collected for Samaritan Feet.
This organization provides tennis shoes to third world countries. The
socks will serve as a nice complement to the shoes that have helped make
it possible for some youth to compete in top level sports.
