Volunteering with Youth at First Presby

A volunteer is a person who serves the church without compensation on a planned and approved basis.

We encourage parent and extended family participation! Please be aware that to volunteer with the youth at the First Presbyterian Church of Irwin you must have current Act 34/PA Criminal History, Act 151/Child Abuse, and Act 114/Federal Fingerprint (or Act 114 Affidavit – please see below) clearances. Many people obtain clearances through one of the local school districts. You may use those if you have them. Once you receive your clearances, they will remain in effect for five years per Act 153. At the end of the five years, you must obtain new clearances if you want to continue your role as a volunteer.

When you receive your clearances, please take them to the church office or email them to heather@firstpresbyirwin.org so the secretary can make a copy for our files.

All volunteers must submit the following clearances:

Complete the request on-line at the link above. Save a copy of the certificate and print results for your records. Results are NOT sent to you.

Complete the request on-line at the link above. Create a new account. You will then enter all of the requested information into the child welfare portal. You may check the status of clearance online. When the check is complete, please download a copy of the certificate and print for your records.

The fingerprint-based background check is a multiple-step process. Applicants must register prior to going to the fingerprint site. Registration is completed on-line. Registration is available 24 hours/day, seven days per week at the link above. Enter 1KG6ZJ as the service code. There is a fee for this clearance.

An Affidavit-Exemption from FBI Clearance form is acceptable for volunteers that have lived in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania more than 10 years. If you qualify for this exemption, please print out the affidavit linked here and email or return it to the Church Office. This step does not require you to be fingerprinted HOWEVER, if you already have a fingerprint clearance please send a copy in lieu of signing the affidavit.
